Needham Bruins Fans Eager for the Cup
Local residents talk hockey as they prep for Game 7 of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals between the Bruins and Canucks tonight.
Boston Bruins fever has officially swept the town of Needham. Fans of the Black and Gold were certainly elated on Wednesday afternoon when discussing the local team, but also hopeful that this will be the year. “It will be an amazing achievement not because it’s been so long since they won the Stanley Cup, but it will be an amazing achievement because their power play has been so poor and if they can win tonight’s game with a poor power play that is a phenomenal accomplishment,” Needham resident Dan Kennedy said. Boston hasn’t celebrated a Stanley Cup championship since the days of Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito and Johnny “Pie” McKenzie in 1972, so certainly it would be an exciting feeling—not just for the town of Needham but also for Boston …
