Police Reports: Pellet Gun Shooter on Town Common

Needham Police were called to the Town Common on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 1:50 p.m. for an anonymous report that someone had been shooting an orange-colored pellet gun at people. Police did not locate the suspect. Police Reports: Man Arrested For Lewd Conduct

The following information was supplied by the Needham Police Department. Any charges mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

A Burlington man was arrested for lewd conduct after he allegedly took inappropriate photographs of a 19-year-old woman with her consent. Police were called to Greene’s Field on Friday, Aug. 3 at around 10 a.m. by a witness who reportedly saw the two interacting. When the officer arrived, he observed a man who matched the witness’ description leaving the park with a woman. The officer stopped the man’s vehicle to investigate. As a result of the initial investigation, police arrested George Weinstein, 67, of Burlington for lewd and lascivious conduct, disturbing the peace, possession of a Class C drug and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Police Reports: Kid On Scooter Damages Vehicle

A Captain Robert Cook Drive resident reported on Tuesday, July 24 that a child riding a scooter had damaged her vehicle. It was unclear whether the damage was done accidentally or deliberately. A Glendoon Road resident called police on Friday, July 13 at around 5:40 a.m. to report that an unknown male was going through her vehicle. After an investigation, police arrested Shawn Meadows, a 38-year-old Brockton man, for breaking and entering of a motor vehicle with intent to commit a misdemeanor. Two vehicle owners on Lexington Avenue reported that their vehicles were broken into on Friday, July 6. An iPod, iPod radio adapter, GPS and DVD adapter were reported missing from one of the vehicles. A black backpack with swim goggles and Sony sport headphones was taken from the second vehicle. Police Reports: No Sign of Paid Contractor

A Grasmere Road resident contacted police after he paid a contractor in December to replace his home's skylights and hadn't heard from the individual since. The individual told police he had hired the contractor in October 2011 to do roof work, which was completed, and to replace four skylights, which had not been done. The resident gave the contractor a down payment for the work on Dec. 4 and hadn't seen the individual since then. The matter is being investigated. Police Reports: Officer Dispatches Injured Deer

A Needham police officer responded on Saturday, May 19 to the report of a deer that had been struck by a car and was lying injured in the roadway. The responding officer located the animal near 380 Dedham Avenue. As Mass. Highway personnel had not yet arrived and the animal appeared to be suffering, the officer “dispatched the animal in a prompt and humane manner” using a departmental shotgun, following safety procedures to ensure there were no vehicles or people in the area that could be endangered, according to reports. The dead animal was then placed on the shoulder of the road out of public view and later removed. Police Reports: NHS Student Found with Marijuana

A Needham High School student was cited for marijuana possession after he was found with a bag of marijuana at school. Police were called to the school on Monday, April 30 at around 10 a.m. after a teacher reported that a student “smelled of marijuana,” according to reports. The student was called to the office and was found to have a plastic bag containing a “green leafy substance” in his possession. The student, a 16-year-old male, was cited for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. Police Reports: Intoxicated Man Taken to Hospital

A 27-year-old Needham man was taken to the hospital after he was found lying in the front yard of a West Street residence at around 4:58 a.m. on Sunday, April 22. A Needham police officer on patrol came across the individual, who was “obviously intoxicated,” according to reports. He was taken into protective custody and transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham. Police Reports: Local Man Arrested in Apt. Break-in

A Needham man was arrested on Sunday, Feb. 26 for breaking into a Highland Avenue apartment. Police were at the apartment building around 9:30 a.m. on an unrelated incident when a witness to the break-in approached officers. The witness was able to detain the suspect, and after officers viewed the damage to the building, they arrested the man, 34-year-old Gregory Kirsh of Oak Street, Needham, for breaking and entering in the daytime, malicious destruction to personal property and possession of burglarious tools, according to reports.
