Report: Woman Accidentally Walked into Side of Train

A South Natick resident suffered non-life-threatening injuries Thursday night when she was struck by a commuter train.

A South Natick woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries after she accidentally walked into the side of an incoming commuter train near the Needham Center Station on Thursday, Sept. 22. The incident occurred around 8:48 p.m. when the woman, a 44-year-old South Natick woman and an employee at The Center Café, located near the station platform, was “walking on the platform attempting to light a cigarette,” according to a report released by the MBTA Transit Police Department on Friday morning. “While focusing on the cigarette, [the woman] did not notice the incoming train and walked into the side of the train, knocking her to the ground,” according to the Transit Police report, which was provided by MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo. Breaking News: Woman Struck by Train

Incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. near the Needham Junction commuter rail station.

Reports are coming in about a woman who was struck by a train near the Needham Junction commuter rail station this evening. The incident reported sometime around 8:00 p.m., according to MBTA alerts notifying commuters of train delays due to the accident. The woman was reportedly transported to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Needham. The latest alert from the MBTA, around 9:07 p.m., noted that a shuttle bus would run from Needham Center to Needham Heights while the incident was being investigated.
