The Needham and Wellesley high football teams square off at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
The football teams from Needham and Wellesley will face off Thursday in the annual Thanksgiving Day game, at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park in Needham. Tickets to the game are $10. Are you headed to the big game today? We'd love to see your pics. Big game set for 10:00 a.m. in Wellesley, and a list of what's closed for the holiday.
Happy Thanksgiving, Needham! Throughout town today, families and friends will be sitting down to feast on traditional holiday fare, from sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie to the ever popular turkey and dressing. Before the meal, though, many will be heading over to Wellesley High School to see the Rockets in action in their 124th Thanksgiving Day football game against the Wellesley Raiders. Kick-off is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tickets at the gate cost $10 per person. Look for the score on Needham Patch later today, and check out our photo gallery of images from the game on Friday. On Thursday, Nov. 24, Needham and Wellesley high school football teams will face off in their 124th annual Thanksgiving Day match-up. The tradition is reportedly the oldest public high school football rivalry in the nation, with the first game played in 1882. The record: Wellesley with 59 wins, Needham with 55, and nine tie games.
