The Needham and Wellesley high football teams square off at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
The football teams from Needham and Wellesley will face off Thursday in the annual Thanksgiving Day game, at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park in Needham. Tickets to the game are $10. Are you headed to the big game today? We'd love to see your pics. Patch wants to know which local restaurants will be open on Thanksgiving.
While many people have the big Thanksgiving dinner at home with their families not everyone likes to make their own turkey with all the fixings in their own kitchen. Needham Patch is putting together a list of local restaurants that will be open on Thanksgiving. There are many ways to cook everyone’s favorite holiday bird. Each family has its own special technique for cooking a turkey, whether it's using an old family recipe, adding a secret ingredient or shopping at a certain store in town that helps make the turkey taste all the better. This Thanksgiving, I have decided to let the kids rule and sit back and enjoy the ride.
I am hosting Thanksgiving this year and couldn’t be happier about it. Mainly because I get to see my family, but also because we don’t have to endure the busiest travel day of the year via planes, trains and automobiles. I will be sure to remember that when my brothers show up with their families looking tired and defeated. The prospect of my sister-in-law's delicious cooking and a few rounds of ping-pong (family tradition) will surly cure what ails them. But I think the best part about this Thanksgiving will be my “let the kids take over” mentality. I feel like my kids are finally old enough, along with their cousins, to really get involved. As the holidays fast approach, it’s always a good idea to take time out of our busy schedules and give thanks for what we have. The Needham Merchants Association, the Needham Restaurant Association, and the Needham Business Association, as part of the Discover Needham Local First Campaign, are coordinating an effort to give thanks and give back to the community. They are sponsoring Needham Gives Thanks, a food drive—“20 Days of People Helping People in Needham”—from Nov. 1-20 to benefit the Needham Community Council. The council provides critical support to the less fortunate in our community. Big game set for 10:00 a.m. in Wellesley, and a list of what's closed for the holiday.
Happy Thanksgiving, Needham! Throughout town today, families and friends will be sitting down to feast on traditional holiday fare, from sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie to the ever popular turkey and dressing. Before the meal, though, many will be heading over to Wellesley High School to see the Rockets in action in their 124th Thanksgiving Day football game against the Wellesley Raiders.
