Which were the best Super Bowl commercials of 2013? Which were the worst?
Millions of sports enthusiasts around the world and in Needham watched Super Bowl 47 on Sunday. Likely, many tuned in just to watch Super Bowl commercials, just like they do every year. According to Ad Age, CBS essentially sold out its ad inventory for Super Bowl XLVII at prices averaging between $3.7 million and $3.8 million. More from Ad Age: The usual coterie of big sponsors is more or less on board again —hello, Pepsi! hello Bud Light! — accompanied by opportunistic, smaller brands that want to make a big splash, such as Century 21 and GoDaddy.com, both of which are also returning to the game. In addition to Ms. Patrick and Mr. Fogle, celebrities and pseudo-celebs on the ad roster will include Willem Dafoe, Amy Poehler, Bar Refaeli, …

What were your favorite ads from Super Bowl 46? Take our poll or share your pick in the comments section below.
The Patriots’ last-minute drive wasn’t the only thing that fell short last night during Super Bowl 46. This year’s lineup of advertisements was like Gronk’s ankle: questionable. And today, as the Monday morning quarterbacks out there rehash Tom Brady’s imperfections, plenty of casual fans around coffee shops and water coolers will be dissecting the commercials, as well. While the immediate reaction was that this year’s ads collectively didn’t stack up against some storied lineups from the past, a few have been garnering positive reviews across the interwebs. Bud Light, for instance, played to both frat boys and animal lovers in its ad featuring Weego, a rescue dog who brings cold ones when called. And the brown M&M scored points for …

According to the "reverse" bet, the congregation from the winning state will send the other group a care package to help ease their pain.
No matter what happens on Sunday when the New England Patriots take on the New York Giants, Needham’s Temple Beth Shalom will be a winner thanks to a friendly little wager with a temple in Larchmont, NY. If the Patriots win, Rabbi Jeff Sirkman and his congregation at Larchmont Temple in New York will display a colorful sign that congratulates the Pats and the Needham temple on the win. This “Mazel tov!” will hang in the temple’s foyer for one week following the game. The wager also includes a “reverse” component—to help the New Yorkers cope with the Giants’ loss, the Needham congregation will send them one case of New England’s famous NECCO Wafers and two dozen chocolate chips cookies from The Boston Chipyard at Quincy Market, Boston. …

Fans turned out to cheer on the Rockets football team in their first ever Super Bowl game against BC High on Saturday, Dec. 3.
By Micah Hauben, NHS Director of Athletics Needham came out swinging against BC High School in the Division I Super Bowl on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium, recovering an on-sides kick on the opening kick-off, then marching down the field to score the first points of the contest to build a 7-0 lead. BC High marched down the field to tie the game at 7-7, which remained the score until the start of the second quarter, when BC High got a 91-yard touchdown from their back-up running back to build a 14-7 lead going into the half. BC High got on the board first in the third quarter, to go up 21-7, and although the Rockets managed to get inside the 30-yard line four more times, they were unable to get into the endzone.
