Needham Youth Services will offer another suicide prevention course in March.
Question. Persuade. Refer. Three steps which some say could save a life. The core of the QPR suicide prevention program is those three steps, and the program is based on a national strategy, according to an announcement on the Town Website. The course expands on four basic concepts, taken from the Announcement: Next month, Needham Youth Services offers a course on suicide prevention loosely inspired by CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation). The class lasts for an hour, and is free--although it is limted to 20 seats, so they request you RSVP (a form is available on the last page of the NYS newsletter). Submitted by the Needham Coalition for Suicide Prevention Although depression is one of the most treatable diseases, more than 36,000 people per year die by suicide in the United States. The Adult Education Sub-Committee of the Needham Coalition for Suicide Prevention (NCSP) is wrapping up its fifth year as the coalition continues its work reducing suicide and the stigma attached to depression and suicide. This is the second in a series on reports on the past year’s work of the NCSP. We continue to provide education on the signs of depression and suicide and how to eliminate the risk factors for suicide to anyone.
