The local results of Thursday’s State Primary mirrored statewide numbers as Needham and Massachusetts voters alike chose Democrat Joe Kennedy III and Republican Sean Bielat to go head-to-head in the race for Congressman Barney Frank’s Fourth District seat in the Nov. 6 election. In Needham, Kennedy won the Democratic nomination with 2,126 votes, easily beating opponents Rachel Brown (110) and Herb Robinson (88). Bielat took the Republican nod in Needham, with 734 votes over opponents Elizabeth Childs (196) and David Steinhof (42). Needham residents also voted with the statewide trend in the contested Democratic race for Second District Governor’s Council. After months of campaigning across a large and newly redrawn district, the pool of Fourth Congressional District candidates has officially been whittled down from six to two. Democrat Joe Kennedy III and Republican Sean Bielat will be the two names on the November ballot for the Fourth Congressional District, according to reports from the Associated Press. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Needham voters will head to the polls today for the State Primary, helping to select candidates that will represent their political parties in the Nov. 6 election. The local polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in all 10 precincts. Voters in precincts C and D will continue to vote at the High Rock School library during the primary but will return to their previous location, at Newman Elementary School, for the Nov. 6 election, according to Town Clerk Tedi Eaton.
