Submitted by Judy Ambrose, Neponset Valley Humane Society Ashley is a very friendly, affectionate cat. This pretty tabby and white kitty loves people and loves attention. She is social and outgoing. Ashley is only about 10 or 11 months old and can be silly and playful. She is great at entertaining herself and can make a toy out of anything small that happens to be on the floor. Ashley is great with people and really wants to be the only pet in her new home. Ashley was a stray and no owner called to claim her. She was not spayed; of course, she is now. Autumn was especially fond of the children in her former family. This pretty tortie is a very sweet, loving, tolerant cat. She is mellow and affectionate and happy to quietly entertain herself with toys when her humans are busy. She likes being held and cuddling in laps. Pet of the Week: Ruby

This pretty white cat, about 2 years old, is available for adoption through the Neponset Valley Humane Society.

Ruby is an agreeable cat and is comfortable being picked up and held. She likes to be petted and brushed and purrs with contentment. She can also be exceptionally silly and playful. She loves to stalk, run, pounce, tumble, plop and leap into the air with excitement all in an effort to catch up to a string toy, a game which never seems to get old for Ruby. Pets of the Week: Starlight and Ricky

Starlight is the pretty tortie cat. She is about 1-2 years old. She is very sweet, gentle, mellow, outgoing, social and loves attention. Pet of the Week: Andy

This little tuxedo kitten needs a good home.

How this adorable little tuxedo kitten came to be a stray is a mystery. Andy is now safe and sound in an NVHS foster home and is very eager for a family to call his own. Andy is about five months old. He was so frightened when he was first rescued. Now that he knows he is safe and loved. Andy is a super friendly, silly, playful, very lovable kitten. He loves people and purrs like crazy when he is cuddling or getting attention. He enjoys interactive play with his foster family and also enjoys play with other cats. Pet of the Week: Lulu

Each week we feature animals up for adoption from the Neponset Valley Humane Society.

Lulu is a super sweet, very affectionate, lovable and gentle cat. She is mostly white with gray patches on her head. She is about 6 or 7 years old and has spent her entire life in a tiny apartment where she lives with her human mother and feline brother. Lulu loves people. She is accustomed to having many visitors and is always eager to greet them. She has had regular visits from the grandchildren and she enjoys being around children. Her owner's health is failing and she is no longer able to care for Lulu. Sadly Lulu is overweight. This can be helped over time by regulating Lulu's food intake, feeding her small meals throughout the day and providing some space where she can exercise and play. This friendly orange tabby cat is available for adoption through Neponset Valley Humane Society.

He can be a little playful, but his favorite pastime is sitting in a lap. He is very happy being a strictly indoor cat. He tolerates the other cats in his foster home but seems to prefer human companionship over felines. We estimate Desmond is about 2 years old. This very nice super affectionate cat is eager for a family to call his own. Desmond is one of the many unaltered stray cats rescued by NVHS volunteers. Pets of the Week: Candy and Mandy

This gentle, affectionate male cat is available for adoption through Neponset Valley Humane Society.

These two kitties are so sweet, lovable, confident and curious. Candy is the very pretty little torbie (tortie with tabby stripes) who is about 5-6 months old. Mandy is the super cute tabby and white kitty who often acts like a kitten herself. She is about one year old. These darlings will do well in any cat-friendly home. These kittens have been in loving NVHS foster homes and are well socialized and friendly. Baby kittens are curious, active and social. They love being part of the family. It's great to adopt a pair. They can run and play together and then snuggle in your lap after they've tired themselves out. Pet of the Week: Basil

This male guinea pig is available for adoption through the Neponset Valley Humane Society.

Submitted by Judy Ambrose, Neponset Valley Humane Society Basil is a very cute and nice guinea pig. He is about 1 or 2 years old. Guinea pigs need a clean cage, a healthy diet including hay, fresh veggies and a little treat of fruit or carrot. Basil enjoys guinea pig chew toys. He is a good pig and never bites, but he is shy. He will be happiest in a home with a family who understands that being picked up and held is very scary for him. Basil is mainly white with a little beige markings. White piggies struggle to find families to adopt them. If you have considered adding a guinea pig to your family and want to rescue one, Basil would be so happy to meet you.
