Senior Night game puts the Boys Volleyball team as Bay sTate Conference Champs.
From the Needham Channel: The Needham Boys Volleyball team took on the Natick Redhawks on Senior Night on May 17, 2013 at Needham High School. Led by Sr. Sam Tillotson's 16 kills the Rockets won 3-1 (25-8, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21) to finish as Bay State Conference Champions with a 15-1 Conference Record (17-3 Overall). Highlights from the Needham Rockets game with the Duxbury Dragons earlier this week.
In last year's D1 State Lacrosse Championship, the Dragons took on the Rockets. May 13, the Needham High faced their State Champ rivals again. Duxbury got a quick lead, 3-0 in the first half of the game. But ultimately the Rockets came back to take the Dragons down in a 6-4 game. From the Needham Channel: Duxbury got out to a quick 3-0 lead thanks to 2 goals from Jay Walsh. Mike Panepinto would score for Needham to cut the lead as Needham would trail Duxbury 3-1 at the half. In the 2nd half Nico Panepinto would score 3 straight goals to give Needham a 4-3 lead. Some updates from the Needham Rockets Baseball, Softball, Volleyball teams and more!
The following was provided by the Needham High School Athletics Department During a week when Needham Varsity teams went 16-7, the Rockets saw four teams come away with no loses, five teams only lose once, and only one team lose two contests. Boys Volleyball kept their hot streak going, sweeping all BSC teams during the week, taking down Braintree, Framingham and Brookline. At 12-2 (11-0 BSC), the 4th ranked Rockets have already qualified for the State Tournament and will look to take one step closer to the BSC title against Weymouth and Wellesley this week. The Volleyball team takes on their undefeated neighbors from Newton North.
What happens when Rockets take on an undefeated team from Newton? Seems that they hand them a loss. After the Needham boys volleyball team (6-2 for the season) lost their first game to Newton North (5-0), they rallied and gave took three games in a row to take the entire match. Needham boys lacrosse takes on Marshfield in a back-and-forth game on Thursday night.
Needham took on Marshfield in Thursday's back-and-forth boys lacrosse game. At the half-time, the score read 6-4 Needham. The Rockets gave up two more goals before the end of the game, but not without scoring six more. Final score was 12-6 Needham.

Highlights from the April 10 game against Lawrence from the Needham Channel.
Needham High took on Lawrence in the final games of a series at the High School on April 10. They managed to get a 10-0 start in the second game, winning it, but ultimately lost the last two games of the match, 21-25 and 20-25 respectively The match went 3 games for Lawrence to 1 Needham in the end. Rockets beat the Brookline team, thanks to a strong game by one senior player.
The above Needham Channel video features highlights from the recent Needham High School Boys Volleyball match against Brookline High. The Rockets defeated Brookline in three matches to none: 25-12, 25-21, 25-9. Senior Sam Tillotson played a big role in the game, ultimately earning 15 kills.

A quick look at Needham High School sports action over the past week, including wrestling, indoor track, dance and cheer, and basketball.
Girls Basketball earned the 13 seed in DI South and traveled to #4 seed Franklin on Tuesday night. The girls put up a strong effort, entering the half only down 4, and while the home team built a double digit lead in the 2nd half, the Rockets battled back and put the pressure on in the closing minutes, however there just was not enough time left, and Needham fell 54-47. Also on Tuesday, 3 Needham athletes, Emerson Boyd, Matt Chmielewski and Eric Silverman competed in the MIAA Alpine Ski Championships at the Berkshire East Ski Area. After a successful run through the Sectional, State, All-State Tournaments, seniors Mark Carroll, John Cronin and Mikey Khibkin advanced to the New England Championships, beginning on Friday in Providence. …

The following was sent by the Needham Channel: Braintree played tough and led the whole game. Needham was able to get within 2 late in the game, but couldn't convert after Braintree made their free throws down the stretch and won 60-52. Rockets now need to win out in order to make the postseason. The Rockets play Newton North today.
