Don't get scammed by a high-pressure paving scam, detailes released in a public service announcement from the Needham Police Department.
If your drive could use a little patching up, the summer could be the perfect time for it. However, make sure you don't end up getting scammed. In the spring and summer months, paving scams happen fairly regularly, according to a press release sent by local police, and these scams often target senior citizens. From the Needham Police Department's public service announcement (emphasis ours): A man knocks on your door and says he has extra asphalt and is willing to pave your driveway at a discounted price. His high-pressure approach confuses and intimidates. You are not getting a deal, you are being scammed. If you agree, here is what likely happens. Hit-and-run crash with a fleeing driver, according to reports.
A driver involved in a crash is fleeing the scene of a crash, on foot, according to scanner reports. Somewhere in the Webster Street/Hoover Road area, police received a report of a hit-and-run crash, with the driver fleeing the scene on foot. Police are chasing the driver. According to those reports, the vehicle is registered to an address on nearby Donna road.

Needham Police announce Medicine Take Back day, April 27.
If you have any old meds in your cabinet, this weekend is the time to get rid of them. Make sure you don't have anything expired, and ensure your old pills or syrups in the back don't make it into the wrong hands accidentally. An announcement on the town website says there is a collection of unused and expired medications in the driveway of the Needham Police Department, 99 School St. Stop by any time between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Some time today, the announcement reccomends you check the expiration dates on any medications you have at home: over the counter, prescription, cough and cold, etc. However, they do not accept needles, thermometers, medical waste or illicit drugs. Needham and Wellesley police responding to a crash on Grove Street involving a pedestrian struck and a car overturned.
[Update: According to a police press release, the crashed vehicle had hit a parked landscaping trailer and rolled over on Grove Street this morning, at about 8:15 a.m. Equipment from the trailer hit a landscaping worker. The driver, a 57-year-old woman from Natick, was taken to Beth Israel Deaconness in Boston with minor injuries. The worker was also taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. 10:51 a.m.] ---- Scanners report that, at about 8:30 a.m., police received a report of an overturned car on Grove Street, near the town line. A kitchen fire was reported at a home on Hillside Avenue on Saturday, Nov. 3 at about 1:48 p.m. The Needham Fire Department was able to contain the fire to the kitchen area. The fire appeared to have been caused by a lamp sitting against combustible materials.
