Highlights from the Needham Rockets game with the Duxbury Dragons earlier this week.
In last year's D1 State Lacrosse Championship, the Dragons took on the Rockets. May 13, the Needham High faced their State Champ rivals again. Duxbury got a quick lead, 3-0 in the first half of the game. But ultimately the Rockets came back to take the Dragons down in a 6-4 game. From the Needham Channel: Duxbury got out to a quick 3-0 lead thanks to 2 goals from Jay Walsh. Mike Panepinto would score for Needham to cut the lead as Needham would trail Duxbury 3-1 at the half. In the 2nd half Nico Panepinto would score 3 straight goals to give Needham a 4-3 lead. Some updates from the Needham Rockets Baseball, Softball, Volleyball teams and more!
The following was provided by the Needham High School Athletics Department During a week when Needham Varsity teams went 16-7, the Rockets saw four teams come away with no loses, five teams only lose once, and only one team lose two contests. Boys Volleyball kept their hot streak going, sweeping all BSC teams during the week, taking down Braintree, Framingham and Brookline. At 12-2 (11-0 BSC), the 4th ranked Rockets have already qualified for the State Tournament and will look to take one step closer to the BSC title against Weymouth and Wellesley this week. After game against Norwood, Needham remains atop the Bay State standings.
April 24, Needham and Norwood swap games for the first two rounds, before Needham takes the final match. Needham remains atop the Bay State Standings with 7 wins to none, and are 8 wins and 2 losses overall. Led by Sam Tillotson (15 kills), Trevor Dow (13 kills) and Andrew Tegeler (8 kills), Needham won the first game 25-20, the second 25-10 and the last 25-15. Last minute goal changes the balance of the Needham-Hingham game. Highlights from the game via the Needham Channel.
The Needham High School boys lacrosses team faced off against Hingham in a game that ultimately went to Needham. The teams entered half-time tied, 3-3, and the game shortly shifted to the Harbormen, 6-5. However, a couple of quick plays set up the Rockets for a last-minute win: 7-6 Needham. Rockets beat the Brookline team, thanks to a strong game by one senior player.
The above Needham Channel video features highlights from the recent Needham High School Boys Volleyball match against Brookline High. The Rockets defeated Brookline in three matches to none: 25-12, 25-21, 25-9. Senior Sam Tillotson played a big role in the game, ultimately earning 15 kills.

A quick look at Needham High School sports action over the past week, including wrestling, indoor track, dance and cheer, and basketball.
Girls Basketball earned the 13 seed in DI South and traveled to #4 seed Franklin on Tuesday night. The girls put up a strong effort, entering the half only down 4, and while the home team built a double digit lead in the 2nd half, the Rockets battled back and put the pressure on in the closing minutes, however there just was not enough time left, and Needham fell 54-47. Also on Tuesday, 3 Needham athletes, Emerson Boyd, Matt Chmielewski and Eric Silverman competed in the MIAA Alpine Ski Championships at the Berkshire East Ski Area. After a successful run through the Sectional, State, All-State Tournaments, seniors Mark Carroll, John Cronin and Mikey Khibkin advanced to the New England Championships, beginning on Friday in Providence. …

Needham answers multiple runs from Franklin at the first round of the tournament, Feb. 27.
Here is the recap from the Needham Channel: In the 1st round of the D1 South Girls Basketball MIAA Tournament, the #13 Needham Rockets (11-9) took on the #4 Franklin Panthers (16-4) at Franklin High School on February 27, 2013. Needham answered multiple runs from Franklin to hang around all game, but could never fully comeback thanks to 20+ turnovers. Alicia Kutil led the Panthers with 16 points, while Maddy Ganser also had 16 for the Rockets.

Highlights from the Dedham-Needham hockey game posted to the Needham Channel.
From the Needham Channel: Great effort and energy from the Needham Seniors in their last home game. Two sophomores got things going offensively for the Rockets though as James Fisher and Danny Jacobs scored 28 seconds apart in the 1st period. Enjoy and pass along. The final score of the game was 3-1.
