One of the show's remaining actors went home last week, and the show announced a tribute to one Boston Marathon bombing victim.
Pineapple salsa won Aly Raisman another week in the "Dancing with the Stars" runnings. That is, a Salsa routine that involved pineapples. Which means that the Needhamite Olympian will be on the show again tonight, at the same old time and channel: ABC, 8 p.m. to 10:01 p.m. She was declared safe about a third of the way into last week's results program. However, the team that wasn't safe was that of actor Andy Dick and his partner Sharna Burgess, who went home. During last week's results show, Host Tom Bergeron announced that the program would also follow the recovery of Adrianne Haslet, a ballroom dancer and instructor who lost her leg in the Boston Marathon bombing. Haslet is putting together a routine to perform on the show later in …

Needham's Olympic medalist survives another round of Dancing with the Stars, another star is not so lucky.
She's still dancing, and she's dancing for Boston. Aly Raisman, Needham's own gold-medaling Olympic gymnast, survived another round of ABC's Dancing With the Stars with her pineapple-throwing performance. "I never shimmied that much in my life." Raisman said behind the scenes, "and I liked it a lot." She was declared safe about a third of the way into last night's program. However, the judges and fans scores end up sending actor Andy Dick and his partner Sharna Burgess home. Burgess was reportedly angry about the judge's treatment of her partner. Following the Boston Marathon bombing, a ballroom dancer and instructor who lost her leg in the attack did announce her intention to dance for the competition. Host Tom Bergeron said they …

ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" returns this week, and Needham Olympic Gymnast returns as well.
Evidently, the fans of Dancing With the Stars still think Needham Olympian Aly Raisman really is lovely. Her dance to Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely" earned her and Mark Ballas 27 out of 30 points from the judges. In last week's Results Show, she and her partner were among the first duos to be declared safe. Combined with her scores from the previous week, Ballas and Raisman have earned 172 points, which puts her in third place overall. In the end the result show came down to pairs - former baseball player Sean Lowe and his partner Peta Murgatroyd and boxer Victor Ortiz and his partner Lindsay Arnold. After tallying the votes of the judges and the viewers Ortiz and Arnold were sent packing. The judges rate and rank each couples' …

Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas were declared safe, along with Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough, were declared safe first in the April 23 show.
It appears the judges and fans of ABC's Dancing with the Stars are still in love with local Aly Raisman. The Needham Olympian who trained in Burlington and her dancing partner Mark Ballas were among the first two to be declared "safe" during the April 23 results show. They were joined by Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough to be ensured another week of competition at the top of the show following a performance by musician Olly Murs. On the April 22 show Raisman and Ballas danced a foxtrot to Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely" and the pair earned 27 out of 30 points from the judges. The stars respond to Boston Marathon and comic D.L. Hughely goes home.
Aly Raisman made it through another week of Dancing With the Stars. Last night, the dancing competition sent home comedian D.L. Hughely, who had been scoring low with the judges for the first few weeks of the competition. While Boston is still dealing with the consequences of the marathon explosions, the stars on the program did have the city in mind. Needham's Olympian dedicated her dance to the people in Boston, and Zendaya sent the city her two 10-point scores from the judges. Before last night's results show, Raisman posted to her Facebook account: Terrible that yesterday was Patriots day in MA and the Boston Marathon, it was supposed to be a very special day, something where all of Boston comes together to cheer everyone on who …

While ABC was wall-to-wall coverage of the Copley Square explosion yesterday, the dancing contest continued--although the program did not ignore the incident.
Regular Dancing With the Stars viewers who tuned in last night, at least in the Boston area, were instead greeted with coverage of the Boston Marathon explosion from yesterday. While ABC's dancing contest continued, the incident was not far from the minds of the cast and crew. According to a tweet from People Magazine: Tom Bergeron opened tonight's #DWTS show with these words: "Our thoughts are with everyone in Boston tonight. ... My heart is with you." Needham Olympian Aly Raisman dedicated her dance to the people in Boston, and Zendaya sent the city her 10-point scores from the judges (she had two of them and a 9). She did well again this week, scoring 25 points in a double-samba with professional pair Tony Dovolani and Witney Carson…

Needham's hometown hero, Aly Raisman, continues on ABC's dancing contest tonight.
Hey, did Aly Raisman make it to the next stage of Dancing with the Stars? Yep, she survived the round, and is back tonight. Even despite an April Fool's moment with one of the judges, during the post-dance critique. "Up until tonight I've been impressed with your dancing," said judge Len Goodman. "Not tonight." But then: "April Fool's!" The Raisman-Ballas duo scored of 23 out of a possible 30, which keeps them near the front of the dancing pack. With her score from the two previous weeks, she has a total of 68 points. As one couple has to go each week, there was an elimination. Last week was country singer Wynona Judd's final week on the competition. There is also something of a feud going on between contestant D.L. Hughely and the …
