Interdisciplinary Grant for the Needham Education Foundation

Innovative pilot program connects traditional disciplines–a key for 21st century learning and problem-solving

Needham's schools have scored the largest grant in its 22-year history to put towards local education programs, and they're launching an interdisciplinary program with that money.  The pilot program aims to dismantling the silo approach in education, where English and language arts classes, maths and sciences are all taught in a disconnected fashion, according to a press release from the Needham Education Foundation (NEF). The grant scores Needham's schools a cool $111,500, which they say is the first step toward taking down the silos.
