MEMA Provides Cold Weather Safety Tips

The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency advises residents to minimize outdoor activity, keep an emergency kit, and check on elderly friends or relatives in extreme cold.

Town Shares MEMA Heat Wave Safety Tips

The temperature is expected to hit 100 degrees in Needham on Thursday.

With hot weather starting today and the high expected to reach 100 degrees Thursday in Needham, the town recently posted a list of "Heat Wave Tips" from the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency. “A few common sense measures can reduce heat-related problems, especially for the elderly, the very young and people with respiratory ailments, who are more susceptible to the effects of high temperatures,” MEMA Director Kurt Schwartz said in the news alert. “If this extreme weather continues over an extended period, some communities may be setting up cooling centers to assist those seeking relief from the oppressive heat.” MEMA is advising people in the Needham area to be cautious during this period of extreme heat, and offers the following …
