Memorial Day, recognized on the last Monday in May, is a day to remember the men and women who served their country as members of the United States military and have since died, whether in battle or after coming home. In Needham, there are several opportunities for residents to participate in the holiday, with ceremonies planned at veterans’ memorials throughout town starting at 6:50 a.m. with a Mass at St. Joseph’s and concluding around noon with a ceremony at Memorial Park. State, town offices not open today in observance of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Today is a federal holiday observing the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (whose birthday fell this year on Sunday, Jan. 15). The town of Needham will hold a free community event honoring Dr. King beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Needham High School. All are invited to attend.
