Needham Police stopped a vehicle on Fair Oaks Park on Friday, Sept. 7 at 2:50 p.m. after receiving a report that the driver may have been urinating in the roadway. Police spoke with all parties involved and determined that the driver had not been urinating. He was sent on his way. Fire extinguishers were reported stolen from a Charles Street business on Tuesday, June 19. An employee at Kerivan-Lane, 30 Charles St., told police that the items had been taken at around 3:09 a.m. and provided security footage of the theft. A Grasmere Road resident contacted police after he paid a contractor in December to replace his home's skylights and hadn't heard from the individual since. The individual told police he had hired the contractor in October 2011 to do roof work, which was completed, and to replace four skylights, which had not been done. The resident gave the contractor a down payment for the work on Dec. 4 and hadn't seen the individual since then. The matter is being investigated. Four Needham teens were charged with possession of alcohol after their vehicle was stopped for speeding on Thursday, May 10. Police observed the vehicle going 65 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone on Greendale Avenue at around 9:15 p.m. After pulling over the vehicle, police noticed “a large amount of alcohol” inside, according to reports. The driver and all of the occupants were under 21 years of age. Three 18-year-old Needham males and one 17-year-old Needham female will be summonsed to court for underage possession of alcohol. A Framingham woman called police from a Reservoir Street business after she received a phone call from a person in Florida claiming to have kidnapped her brother and demanding a ransom. The woman was able to get a hold of her brother after the phone call and determined that the call was a hoax "to acquire funds through deception," according to police reports. A Foxborough man was arrested in Needham on Tuesday, April 24 on two default warrants out of Wrentham District Court, for assault and battery and trespassing. A Needham police officer working private detail at around 1:41 p.m. came across a man on Great Plain Avenue whom he believed to have several outstanding warrants. After confirming that was the case, police located the man on Greendale Avenue near the Needham/Dedham town line. The man at first gave police a fake name but later provided his real name, according to reports. The man, Brian Ford, 36, of Foxborough, was arrested on the two warrants. A Connecticut woman was placed into protective custody after she allegedly refused to pay a cab fare after being dropped off at the Needham Sheraton Hotel on Thursday, April 19. Police were called to the Cabot Street hotel at around 1:55 a.m. by a cab driver who was having a dispute with a client over cab fare. The driver told the responding officer that the woman he had picked up in his cab had vomited in the back seat and was refusing to pay her fare. The woman, a 27-year-old resident of Darien, CT, eventually did pay the money but appeared to be intoxicated, according to reports. She was taken into police custody but not charged.
