Needham's Green Scene

This week's Patch Picks recognizes groups saving energy and spreading awareness about environmental issues.

Needham’s got a handle on green issues. Not only is the town working to become a Massachusetts Green Community, but it also has several very active groups and individuals in town who focus on a variety of environmental topics, from energy efficiency to community gardens to political action. Three of these entities—the Needham League of Women Voters, Green Needham and Olin College—are organizing the upcoming Needham Summit on Energy and the Environment, scheduled for Monday, Oct. 24 at the college’s Milas Hall. The program will feature discussions on the Massachusetts Clean Energy and Climate Plan for 2020, which describes how the commonwealth will address global climate change, energy independence and other issues by the year 2020.
