Season Two for Needham Farmers Market
Fresh produce available in Needham Town Center, as the farmers market returns to the First Parish front lawn.
Good news for anyone who enjoyed last year's Farmers Market. They had so much fun, they're back for more! The Needham Farmers Market returns on June 2, from 1-5 p.m. on the front lawn of First Parish in Needham, according to an announcement Farmers Market spokesperson organizers. Who can you expect to see opening this year's market? First week vendors include the MacArthur Farm, The Neighborhood Farm, Big Sky Bakery, Globe Fish, Lilac Hedge, Foxboro Cheese, Nella Pasta and Two Brothers Cookies. New for this year is the Chef in House program, which will start on the second week. Each week, a local chef will join market shoppers on short tours for about an hour. Needham Farmers Market Opens [PHOTOS]
The new nonprofit venture began its inaugural season on Sunday at First Parish.
The first Needham Farmers Market opened to blue skies and perfect weather Sunday afternoon, June 10, on the front lawn of First Parish in Needham—drawing a steady stream of shoppers by car, foot and on bike to shop from a variety of fresh produce, plants, meat, baked goods and other items. “It’s been a great turnout, really. Every comment has been very positive, about the farmers market and what it’s bringing to Needham. There are a lot of very happy people,” said Jeff Friedman, president of the Needham Farmers Market Board of Directors. Needham Farmers Market Opens Today
The first season begins June 10 and continues Sundays from 1-5 p.m. through October.
More than one year after Town Meeting voted to allow a farmers market in town, by special permit, the first Needham Farmers Market will make its debut today, from 1-5 p.m. on the front lawn of First Parish in Needham. The market will be open every Sunday through Oct. 28 from 1-5 p.m. Vendors will be selling vegetables, fruits, baked goods, cheese, fish, meat and more at the weekly market. Among the vendors that have signed up for the season are: MacArthur Farm in Holliston; The Neighborhood Farm in Needham; Needham Community Farm; John Crow Farm in Groton; Globe Fish Company in Boston; Susie’s Baking in Needham; Lawton’s Farm in Foxborough; Hazel’s Bakery in Needham; Big Sky Bread in Watertown; GayGrace Teas; and Nutting Farm Maple Syrup. …

Needham Farmers Market Taking Shape
Vendors and artisans are set for the market's first season, which opens June 10.
The opening of the first Needham Farmers Market is just over one month away, and organizers have been busy getting ready—finding vendors, gathering sponsors and drawing attention to the upcoming venture by posting videos, recipes and photos of Needham’s agricultural past online at needhamfarmersmarket.org. “We expect that the Needham Farmers Market, right in the heart of Needham Center, will bring a good amount of visitors, from Needham and surrounding towns, into the Center on what otherwise may have been quiet times for Needham businesses, especially during July and August,” said Jill Kahn, a member of the Needham Farmers Market Board of Directors.
