As October winds to a close, the beautiful changing leaves around Needham will continue to fall, littering local streets, yards and walkways with the natural debris of the season. So what's a homeowner to do with it all? Needham residents can bring bags of leaves to the Recycling and Transfer Station on Sundays throughout November between noon and 4 p.m. On those dates—Nov. 4, 11, 18 and 25—the RTS will accept only leaves, not recycling, trash or other yard waste such as grass or brush, according to the town website, needhamma.gov. "When disposing of leaves, residents should empty the leaves out of bags/containers into the designated leaf area, then place leaf bags/containers in the proper disposal container located in the yard waste area…

When Does Daylight Saving Time End in 2012?

Remember: It's almost time to change those clocks.

If you're tired of getting ready for work in the dark, remember—there is light at the end of the tunnel. Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, bringing more sunlight to your mornings but less to your evenings. When Daylight Saving Time ends, we all “fall back," so don't forget to set your clocks back one hour. Many electronic devices, such as computers and cell phones, automatically adjust when Daylight Saving Time begins or ends. When you change your clocks in the fall and spring, it’s also a good time to change smoke detector batteries and make sure these devices are in working order. The Business Association's annual event was held Saturday on the Town Common.

Like the Street Fair last spring, the Needham Business Association's annual Harvest Fair and Souper Bowl has returned to the Town Common after being moved temporarily to Memorial Park during the renovations of Needham Town Hall. The fall festival was held on Saturday, Oct. 6, and brought together local businesses, organizations, musicians, artisans and residents for a day of fun, fellowship and great fall food. Under the Souper Bowl tent, visitors could sample soups from various restaurants and kitchens in Needham and vote for their favorite. On the front steps of Town Hall, musicians and dancers performed for the crowds, and businesses and organizations offered a look at their wares and services at booths set up throughout the Town Common…
