Resident Home During Attempted Break-in

Two men appearing to be door-to-door solicitors attempted to enter a house on Brookline Street around 11:00 a.m. Monday, Needham Police report.

Two men posing as door-to-door salesmen were involved in a house break-in on Brookline Street on Monday morning. Needham Police received a call around 11:00 a.m. from a Brookline Street resident who was at home when one of the men attempted to enter through the back door, according to a statement issued by Needham Police Lt. Chris Baker. After police were called, the two suspects, described as black males, fled the scene. A Norfolk County K9 unit was called to help search the area, but the two were not found. “One of the males was carrying a clipboard and they were apparently posing as door-to-door solicitors,” Baker said in the report. “One individual knocked on the front door while the other broke into the back door.” Last week, Needham …

Residents Advised to Take Steps Against Theft

The Needham Police Department shared this list of tips for protecting property over the holiday season after several residential burglaries and vehicle break-ins were reported in nearby communities.

The Needham Police Department is reminding residents to be vigilant throughout the holiday season in protecting their homes, vehicles and other property against theft and burglary. In a press release issued Monday, Nov. 28 by the department, police noted that there have been several residential burglaries and vehicle break-ins recently in cities and towns near Needham. "The holiday season can also lead to a further surge of this type of activity," police advised. Police Report: Laptops, Motorcycle Stolen Last Week

Hunnewell St. resident says computers were taken during house burglary.

Two laptop computers were reported stolen during a house break-in on Hunnewell Street last week in which the suspect appeared to have entered by cutting a screen in a kitchen window. Needham police were called at around 2:26 p.m. on Friday, April 29. The homeowner told police that shortly after returning home that day she had discovered that the outside screen on her kitchen window had been cut and the screen and window pushed open to allow entry, according to the police report. She reported two missing laptops—a six-month-old MacBook Pro and a two-year-old MacBook—believed to have been in the living room when she left.
