Editor's Notebook: Patch Celebrates its 100th Site Launch
Needham was the first Patch site to launch in Massachusetts.
I have covered Needham in some form for the last five years, but working for Patch has allowed me to cover the town in entirely new and innovative ways. For instance, when news broke that former Needham football star and NFL tight end Eric Johnson was dating celebrity singer Jessica Simpson, through Patch's system of community building, and with the help of some gracious residents, I was able to submit a story, complete with photos and two videos, just two hours after the story was assigned. It's Patch's flexibility, along with its dedicated editors and correspondents, that allows it to adapt to breaking news, but it's the town's knowledgeable residents who really make it all possible.
