Police Reports: Woman Urinating in Resident's Yard

The following information was supplied by the Needham Police Department. Any charges mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

Police were called to a Yurick Road home at around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 13 for the report of a female urinating in an elderly resident's yard. When the officer arrived, he found a vehicle containing an 18-year-old Needham man and three Needham women, ages 17, 18 and 19, parked in the driveway nextdoor to the residence. The occupants appeared to be intoxicated, according to reports, and were allegedly found in possession of alcohol and marijuana. The male, a Yurick Road resident, was arrested and cited for underage possession of alcohol and marijuana possession. Police Reports: Four Teens Charged with Alcohol Possession

The following information was supplied by the Needham Police Department. Any charges mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

Four Needham teens were charged with possession of alcohol after their vehicle was stopped for speeding on Thursday, May 10. Police observed the vehicle going 65 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone on Greendale Avenue at around 9:15 p.m. After pulling over the vehicle, police noticed “a large amount of alcohol” inside, according to reports. The driver and all of the occupants were under 21 years of age. Needham Attorney Admits To Running Ponzi Scheme

David L. Spector, 52, pled guilty to wire fraud and money laundering on May 16 in U.S. District Court in Providence.

A Needham man pled guilty on Wednesday, May 16 in U.S. District Court in Providence, RI to three counts of wire fraud and one count of money laundering related to his work as a mortgage attorney in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. David L. Spector, 52, of Needham, admitted in court that he had operated a Ponzi scheme, defrauding mortgage holders and lending institutions of more than $600,000, according to a press release issued by the office of U.S. Attorney Peter F. Neronha. “Spector admitted to the court that between April and October 2007 he conducted real estate mortgage refinance closings for properties in Plymouth and Lawrence, MA and Westerly, RI. Police Reports: Woman Receives Fake Ransom Call

A Framingham woman called police from a Reservoir Street business after she received a phone call from a person in Florida claiming to have kidnapped her brother and demanding a ransom. The woman was able to get a hold of her brother after the phone call and determined that the call was a hoax "to acquire funds through deception," according to police reports. Police Reports: Multiple Break-ins at Charles River Landing Apartments

Needham Police are investigating break-ins that occurred last week in three units at the Charles River Landing apartments on Second Avenue. The break-ins were reported on Tuesday, May 8 at around 4:20 p.m. In all three cases, the doors to the apartments had been pried open. An unknown amount of property was taken from the units. On Wednesday, May 9, at around 6:32 p.m., Needham Police responded to another incident at Charles River Landing—this time, an attempted break-in at one of the apartments. Police Reports: Teen Arrested for Alcohol Possession

Police observed two males acting suspiciously in the parking lot of Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham on Saturday, May 5 at around 4 p.m. While talking with the individuals, an officer noted “a strong odor of alcoholic beverage.” One of the individuals, a 16-year-old male, was found to have an alcoholic beverage in his possession. He was arrested for underage possession of alcohol. During booking, police also found a small amount of marijuana on the teen. He was issued a civil citation for possession of under one ounce of marijuana. The other teen was brought back to the police station, where his father later picked him up. Police Reports: $350 Headphones Stolen from Locker

A Needham High School student reported that a $350 pair of Beats headphones was stolen from his locker on Wednesday, May 2. The theft occurred sometime between 4 and 6 p.m. while the teen was at a baseball game, according to reports. There was no sign of forced entry to the locker. Needham Police Help Launch 'Click It or Ticket'

Local officers will be working with the state police and others to enforce seat belt use May 14-June 3.

  Submitted by the Needham Police Department In a continuing effort to save lives, the Needham Police Department, in partnership with the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s Highway Safety Division, the Massachusetts State Police and more than 120 other local departments, is launching a high-visibility seat belt enforcement mobilization called Click It or Ticket. The message is simple: Massachusetts drivers and passengers should always wear their seat belts or be prepared to face the consequences.  During the “Click It or Ticket” mobilization, which runs from May 14 through June 3, thousands of extra state and local police will patrol the state’s streets and highways in a concerted effort to promote and enforce seat belt use …

Police Reports: NHS Student Found with Marijuana

A Needham High School student was cited for marijuana possession after he was found with a bag of marijuana at school. Police were called to the school on Monday, April 30 at around 10 a.m. after a teacher reported that a student “smelled of marijuana,” according to reports. The student was called to the office and was found to have a plastic bag containing a “green leafy substance” in his possession. The student, a 16-year-old male, was cited for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. Two Needham Natives Join Fire Department

New Needham firefighter paramedics Patrick Muir and Joseph Tierney were introduced at the May 8 selectmen's meeting.

Two of Needham's own have joined the Needham Fire Department. Firefighter/paramedics Patrick Muir and Joseph Tierney III were introduced at the selectmen's meeting on Tuesday, May 8 as the newest members of the department. Both are licensed paramedics. Muir and Tierney both grew up in Needham and attended Needham Public Schools—a background that makes them a great asset to the Needham Fire Department, Fire Chief Paul Buckley said Tuesday night. “One of the things that’s advantageous for us having gentlemen and ladies that are from Needham is that they know the town—they know the streets, the buildings, the people," Buckley said.
