Weekend Planner: Walking, Harvesting, Sunning and More!

A selection of weekend events for Sherborn, Dover, Needham and the surrounding area.




Needham is hosting the annual Harvest Fair at the town Common come 10 a.m. on Saturday, running until 3 p.m. Not just the harvest fair, but also the Souper bowl. Come and get a few bowls of soup, meet some folks from around town, and enjoy harvest season in Needham. For more information visit the Harvest Fair website. If you support the Needham Rail Trail, you could even win a bike.

If you are walking on sunshine, you could also be taking the National Solar Tour. A number of local green buildings are participating, such as Saint Dunstant's Church in Dover and First Parish in Needham. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., both buildings will be showing off their solar arrays. There are ten churches statewide participating

Strap on your running shoes and help the Charles River Center. They are hosting a 5k Run or 1 mile walk, followed by food, festivities and free Sam Adams beer. Starts at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Register on their website. The first 100 participants got free shirts.  

If you want your run to be a bit more fun, head over to the Pine Hill 5k and Fun Run on Sunday morning, starting at 8:30 a.m. near Jameson Field on Cemetery Lane in Sherborn. More information about this run is on their website

Dover Historical Society is once again gearing up for their annual Old Home Day. This year it is Sunday, Oct. 6, and will feature many old favorites from the past events, including the Grange Supper, Horses and Hounds in the parade, and some demonstrations and presentations at the Caryl House. Starts with the ringing of the town church bells at noon.
