Weekend Agenda: Dover Days, Auctioning Adirondacks and More!

The annual Dover Days fair is not at all far off. It's on Saturday, in fact. Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the town common is opening once again to the annual Dover Days fair. The event has been running for more than 30 years, according to the Parks and Rec website, and this year will be open to out of town vendors as well as local ones--and Cradles to Crayons is collecting there.

If you like to travel, and like to share stories of that travel, perhaps you have considered doing some travel writing. If you're on the fence, and really want some tips to push you over, why not ask veteran Boston Globe reporter David Abel? He's coming to North Hill in Needham this weekend to do a workshop on travel writing for active 55+ seniors. Register online at www.northhill.org/event/travel-writing-101, by email (RSVP@NorthHill.org) or by phone (781-433-6400), it is $10, and that includes a lunch.

Starting on Tuesday this week, the various Chairs to Remember were on display at the Needham Town Hall. This lead up to the auction at the end of the week, Saturday evening at 6 p.m. For folks who can't wait until then, the event has a Bidding for Good auction page which is now live. Tickets for the auction are available for $20 at the following locations: Taylor’s Stationery, Perennial Designs, Closet Exchange, Black Sheep, The Grey Goose, and The Center Café.

Cycling enthusiasts are invited to Boston on Sunday morning for the 9th annual Hub on Wheels. The ride starts and finishes in City Hall Plaza, with a 10-, 30- and 50-mile route option for cyclists of different skills. To sign up, visit Hub on Wheels Registration or go to the Registration tent when you arrive at City Hall Plaza. Registration fee is $45 (or $55 on-site). Children under 10 years old ride for free.
