The Weekender: The Family that Paints Together, Runs Together and More!

A selection of weekend events in Needham, Dover and Sherborn this weekend.


Need a new coat before it starts snowing? Now might be the perfect time to go grab one, and support a local organization. The Needham Commuity Council is hosting its annual coat sale on Friday, starting at 10 a.m. when they open. Swing in to get the perfect gently-used coat for the coming season.

Coats for Kids is kicking off this weekend! In Needham, at Anton's Cleaners, at the five Jordan's Furniture locations, and a few other places around Mass., they are collecting coats starting Saturday for New England's largest coat drive. For more information, see the event page.

Wayland is bringing cross country to the party. The Wayland XC festival is kicking off this weekend, for everyone who loves running across country areas, at 9 a.m. at the Wayland High School. It features a series of runs of different lengths and skill levels, so bring a good pair of running shoes and test yourself.

Bring your family and paint them. Or, paint with them. Either way, Palettes in Natick is inviting the whole gang over to paint a bus for Family Paint. Pick your spot at 1:30 p.m., painting gets underway at 2 p.m. Cost is $25. Call for more information, 508-318-8337
