Town Gears Up for New Years Needham

New Year’s Eve: Mostly sunny, with a high near 22. Tuesday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 8.

New Year's Day: Mostly sunny, with a high near 21. Wednesday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 6.

Thursday: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. It will be partly sunny, with a high near 24.

2. Drop-In "End of the Year" Crafts for ages 2-6

Drop by Needham Public Library Monday, Dec. 30 4 to 4:45 p.m. in the craft room. All drop-in craft programs feature two crafts that are related to the theme. There will be 25 of each craft, as well as a coloring sheet, so be sure to come early for first choice.

3. New Years Needham

Ring in the New Year with neighbors Tuesday, Dec. 31 starting 10 a.m. with the Chinese Lantern display throughout the Town Common and ending with the Countdown Party at Powers Hall that will include music, dancing, food and a cash bar for ages 21 and older. Cost for the Countdown Party is $20 at the door. Other event highlights include the Tanglewood Marionettes, Charles River Ballet, story telling, a magic show, comedy and more. 4. Needham Running Club's New Year's Day 5K run

Start your year off on the right foot with the Needham Running Club's New Year's Day 5K run. This run will benefit the YMCA, Needham Cultural Council and a local charity. Food, sports drinks, water and raffle prizes will be available at race end. The first 500 entrants will receive a performance wicking beanie. Gift certificates will be awarded to the top three male and female runners, and several other winner categories and free raffle prizes.The run starts 11 a.m. Jan. 1 at Needham YMCA Pool Building, 863 Great Plain Ave., Needham.
