Five things you need to know about Needham and Wellesley on July 9, 2013.

1. The National Weather Service says there is a small chance, 20 percent, of some isolated showers and thunderstorms around today, and possibly overnight. Otherwise, cloudy with a high of 81ºF and a low of 66ºF.

2. Are you fully Patched in? It's not just the Patch Newsletter, Facebook and Twitter anymore--now we have an app. Search the iTunes store for Patch and download the new Patch app--everything you want to know, straight to your phone. Plus, the ability to post everything from around town as you go.

3. You look like someone who's full of blood. If true, perhaps you'd consider giving some to help the Red Cross. Wingate in Needham, 589 Highland Avenue, is hosting a blood drive between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. To make an appointment please call 1 (800) RED-CROSS or visit www.redcrossblood.org

4. Patrick Chung from the Philly Eagles is bringing a pep rally to your neighborhood with the help of JAMN 94.5. The SMART kick off rally starts at the Josiah Quincy school today, at 4 p.m.

5. Charles Collier, a Wellesley resident, is coming to the Library Free Library tonight to talk about Taking Control of Alzheimers Disease. Collier was diagnosed in 2008 with Alzheimer's disease--since then, his illness has slowed his speech, but not his thinking! Presentation begins at 7 p.m. at the library.
