Needham gymnast Aly Raisman is heading to London.
The 18-year-old athlete and recent graduate earned a spot on the USA Women's Gymnastics Team over the weekend during the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials. Raisman was third in the overall standings at the Trials, with a final score of 120.950.
Raisman, who trains at Brestyan's American Gymnastics in Burlington, is one of five women who made the Olympic team. In the top spot was Gabby Douglas of Virginia Beach, VA, followed by McKayla Maroney of Long Beach, CA.
Following Raisman in the fourth and fifth spots respectively were Kyla Ross of Aliso Viejo, CA and Jordyn Wieber of DeWitt, MI.
Raisman is also the subject of that is set to air next week on Comcast SportsNet New England.
"Aly Raisman: Quest For Gold" follows Raisman from her Gold Medal performance at the 2011 Gymnastics World Championships in Tokyo to the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials. The two-hour documentary will air in three parts on July 9, 10 and 11 at 8 p.m. on Channel 52 for Needham Comcast subscribers (Channel 852 in high-definition).
