After finishing the regular season 15-0 (capping a 37-match winning streak), the Needham boys tennis team earned the No. 1 seed in the DI South Section.
The boys will host Marshfield, weather permitting, on Monday, June 4 at 1:45 p.m.
Girls Tennis Defeats Marshfield 5-0
The Needham girls tennis team, after finishing 17-1 in the regular season, earned the No. 2 seed in the DI South Section. The girls swept Marshfield in a first-round match on Friday, June 1 and will host Falmouth on Tuesday, June 5.
Girls LAX Defeats Whitman Hanson 17-3, then Walpole 15-5
On Wednesday, May 30, the top-seeded Rockets cruised by 16th-seed Whitman-Hanson, and then on Saturday, June 2 took down league opponent No. 8 Walpole.
The girls will now host the winner of No. 5 Franklin at No. 4 Natick (to be played in Tuesday, June 5) in a DI South Semi-Final on Wednesday, June 6. The game will be played on with a TBA start time.
Boys Lacrosse Defeats Andover 10-6
Following the girls' win on Saturday night, the boys erased a one-goal lead late in the second quarter vs. Andover by scoring five straight goals. Although Andover would score three out of the next four goals, the Rockets stepped up their play late and held on for the 10-6 win.
The team will take on the winner of the Xaverian at Masconomet game (to be played Monday, June 5) on Wednesday, June 6. Location and game time are TBA.
Boys Volleyball Season Ends
After a great regular season, which saw the boys finish 16-4, the Rockets varsity volleyball team dispatched Norwood in the quarter-final round of the South Section before , Newton North, on Friday night in a semi-final match.
Track and Field Meet Rescheduled
After being postponed twice over the weekend, the State Championship Track and Field Meet has been set for Tuesday afternoon, June 5 at Fitchburg State. Because of all the schedule changes, it is unclear who will compete, but event information, along with all state tournament brackets and updates, can be found at miaa.net.
