Aly Raisman Joins 2013 "Dancing with the Stars" Cast

Needham Olympian joining the cast of ABC's popular dancing show.

 

Speculation has been confirmed: ABC announced today that Aly Raisman will be "Dancing with the Stars" (DWTS) this season. 

Yesterday, rumors started to swirl that the 18-year-old Needhamite would be on the popular dancing contest this season The line-up was announced on "Good Morning America" and on the DWTS website.

Other celebrities cutting the rug this season include singer Wynonna Judd and actors Andy Dick and D.L. Hughley. She will dance with professional dancer Mark Ballas.

Among the accomplishments listed on her bio page, her gold medal wins, being named , presenting at the annual Video Music Awards and winning a We Got Game award from Cartoon Network's "Hall of Game" along with her fellow 2012 Olympians.

For the people of Needham, she may need no introduction. Just in case: After picking up a gold medal in gymnastics, Needham gave the 18-year-old Olympic team captain a welcome home worthy of an Olympian after the London 2012 games, complete with parade and the Aly Rally. She is using her celebrity for a cause, as well, by letting kids know it's OK to say 'no' to booze.
