Needham Olympian Aly Raisman is recovering well after suffering bruised knees while on tour in California this past weekend.
According to the Boston Globe, the Olympian fell off the uneven bars and landed on a concrete floor, injuring her knees, during a performance during the Kellogg's Tour of Gymnastic Champions on Sunday, Sept. 9.
However, Raisman said she is feeling better and is ready for the next show.
On Monday she tweeted from her official Twitter account:
"THANK YOU so much for all the kind words & support. I'm so thankful that I am OK, just some bruising on my knees and the rest of my legs!"
The Olympic gold medalist followed that tweet with an updated post this afternoon:
"Finally got a full nights sleep last night. Feeling SO much better thanks again for all the well wishes! I'm excited for Thursday's show! XO"
Raisman will be performing tomorrow in San Diego.
Raisman grew up in Needham and trained for the Olympics at the in Burlington. Last month she was when she returned to her Burlington gym (). She was also celebrated with a in Needham on Aug. 26.
