Business Spotlight: Needham Florist

This week, we asked Avi Ben-David, owner of Needham Florist, to tell us a little bit about his flower shop.

Q: When and how did your business get started?

A: After working in my brother's florist in Canton for many years, I decided to open my own business. I searched several areas and towns and fell in love with Needham. Needham Florist opened its doors in November 1995.

Q: Why did you choose the town you did to open your business?

A: I drove through many towns, and although there were several florists in Needham, there was something special about this town, and I knew that this was the place for me, my business and for the Needham community.

Q: What is your business best known for?

A: Top quality flowers. We get flowers from various parts of the country and world (Holland, South America, Hawaii, etc.)

Q: What's your most popular product or service?

A: Custom designed floral arrangements and same day delivery.

Q: What's something interesting about your business your customers might not know?

A: I wake up at 3 a.m. four to five mornings each week and arrive at the Flower Market in Boston by 4:30 a.m. to purchase the freshest flowers. Tractor trailers come in on a daily basis from around the country and from logan airport (floral boxes arrive from Ecuador, Holland, Hawaii) and I want to ensure the freshest flowers for my customers.
