Summit Looking at Needham's Diversity Later this Month

The Needham Diversity Summit, now in its second year, is coming up later this month, and will feature local celebrities and experts on diversity. Needham Community Education is partnering with the event, which aims to bring together and form a network of people within Needham to help promote and understand diversity in the community.

Among the speakers: a Needham High School 9th grader, Michelle Comma, and Channel 5 veteran Jim Boyd.

Comma, and her older brothers, are actually Mattapan residents. They commute from the Boston neghborhood to Needham for school as part of the Metco program, according to the event flyer. She attended the first Diversity summit, and is coming to this one to share her experiences with Diversity in town.

The event is free, but they require visitors to register. To register for the summit, call Needham Community Education at 781-455-0400 x235.

The Pollard Middle School hosts this event, scheduled for Oct. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
