Open Hearings for Needham Selectmen on Water, Weed

Curious about the water bans and marijuana moratoriums? The Needham Selectmen will be bringing up both topics at their meeting tonight.

First on the agenda, at 7 p.m., a hearing on the water ban announced in early July. The restriction applies not only to watering your lawn, but to washing your car or driveway as well. The decision was made at a June 26 meeting, and is in effect until Sept. 30. This restriction is mandatory.

Then at 7:30 p.m., officials will take on the topic of marijuana. Town Meeting voted to put a year-long moratorium on the medical marijuana dispensary zoning, which allows officials to address what they have described "as ambiguities, policy issues and questions" about how to apply the outlined law at a town government level.

The meeting is slated for 7 p.m. at Powers Hall in Needham Town Hall. The Board of Selectmen arrives at 6:45 p.m. and is available to meet informally with residents. The full agenda is available on the Town of Needham website.
