Letter to the Editor: Elizabeth Grimes Running for Planning Board

Needham resident announces candidacy for open Planning Board seat.

The following was sent by Elizabeth Grimes' campaign:

I am pleased to announce my candidacy for the vacant seat on the Needham Planning Board. I have been active on several Needham organizations, including Town Meeting, the Needham Council of Economic Advisors (CEA), the Needham Business Association, and the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Needham Board of Advisors. As a practicing Real Estate Attorney, I have the background and expertise necessary to be an effective member of the Planning Board.

My passion for our town and my experience will allow me to immediately contribute to the Planning Board’s work in promoting Needham’s economic development while protecting the town’s feel and character. At the CEA, we deal with many zoning issues and discover ways to effectively change zoning to better fit Needham’s current vision. I will bring a fresh, open-minded, point of view to the Planning Board, which is instrumental in developing our town while maintaining its integrity and quality of life.

I am pro-home owner and pro-business and believe that it’s the Planning Board’s responsibilityto both protect neighborhoods and promote business success in our business districts.

My husband and I have three young children: a daughter in first grade at Hillside Elementary School, a son in pre-school and a young daughter at home. I am a graduate of Villanova University and Suffolk University Law School and have resided in Needham since 2006. I am committed to our town and have the energy and skills that would make me a valuable member of the Planning Board.
