The and the Natick Democratic Town Committee will host a debate on Wednesday, Aug. 8 between Democratic candidates for the Governor's Council in the Second District.
The candidates—Brian Clinton, Robert Jubinville, , and Bart Timilty—will debate at a 7 p.m. event that is open to all.
The eight-person Governor's Council is the oldest elected body in Massachusetts, predating statehood. The primary responsibility of the council is to consider the governor's judicial nominees. Needham is part of the Second District, and local residents will be helping to elect a councillor in the state election this fall.
“We are proud to host this important debate,” Natick Democratic Town Committee chair Dylan Hayre said in a press release. “Voters should make an informed vote at the primary on Sept. 6 and at the general election on Nov. 6.”
The winner of the Democratic nomination will face Republican candidate Earl Sholley in November.
Rick Holmes, opinion page editor of the MetroWest Daily News, will moderate the debate.
