Developer Appeals Needham Officials’ Decision for Affordable Housing Project

Hearings have started at state level.

The Needham Mews apartment complex proposal on Greendale Avenue was too big for the town. But the developer, Mill Creek Residential,  didn’t think so and has filed an appeal with the state Housing Appeals Committee.

The original plan called for 300 apartments and five buildings across six acres under the state’s 40B Affordable Housing law. But the Needham Board of Appeals rejected that plan and told Mill Creek to limit the apartments to just over 100.

The appeals process began last week at the state level on the project, according to a report in the Boston Globe.
