Stolen and Lost Jewelry in Needham Police Log: Nov. 4 - 6

The following information was provided by Needham Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Nov. 4

5:38 a.m.: A police officer was dispatched to the area of 459 Great Plains Avenue for a report of a deer struck by a motor vehicle. The officer dispatched the animal with a department issued shotgun. He then made arrangements to have the remains disposed of.

10:37 a.m.: Police observed a vehicle travelling in front of his cruiser had an expired registration sticker. A motor vehicle stop was initiated and the operator was queried through dispatch. The operator, Flaviane Melo, 28, of Framingham, was arrested for operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license and she had a default warrant for operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license out of Waltham.

12:52 p.m.: Police initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Hunting Road for having no inspection. One of the passengers was observed not wearing a seatbelt. After identifying the passenger, it was discovered he had a warrant. Brandon Lee, 34, of Putnam, Conn., was subsequently arrested for a default warrant out of Uxbridge District Court for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and speeding. Lee was cited for a seatbelt violation and the operator was cited for operation of a motor vehicle with no inspection.

1:27 p.m.: A Brook Road business reported fraudulent check activity. It appeared the checks were created in the business’ name by unknown parties and cashed. The matter is under investigation.

2:52 p.m.: Police responded to an Armen Way residence for a report of a basketball hoop that had been damaged, possibly by a delivery truck.


Tuesday, Nov. 5

8 a.m.: An Andrea Circle resident reported that they were missing several pieces of jewelry. The investigation revealed that the suspect fled the country.


Wednesday, Nov. 6

2:44 p.m.: A resident of Booth Street reported losing her diamond ring.

4:15 p.m.: Police responded to a Highland Avenue business for a report of a suspicious person at the workplace. The individual was identified as a Great Plain Avenue resident and asked not to return to the business.

4:50 p.m.: While on routine patrol of Central Avenue, a police officer observed a disabled motor vehicle parked on the side of the road. Upon speaking with the operator, it was determined that the operator was recently in a motor vehicle crash. The operator forgot to obtain the other motor vehicle operator’s information.
