Resident Throws Plant at Construction Worker; Two Hit and Runs

The following are excerpts from the Needham police log. An arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, July 1 

  • At 7:44 a.m., police responded to a hit and run accident involving two vehicles on Highland Ave. One car fled the scene. The other, which was struck, had an adult woman who was transported to the hospital with an injury complaint to her back. There were no witnesses. 
Wednesday, July 2 

  • At 9:35 p.m., police responded to an address on Cogswell Court on a reported hit and run. The female driver was struck from behind while turning onto Broadmeadow Road from Great Plain Ave. The suspect vehicle was reported as a golf colored SUV. The victim's car sustained damage to the left rear tail light. 

Thursday, July 3 

  • At 12:10 a.m., a Westwood resident reported that his motorcycle was vandalized while parked at his place of business on Chestnut Street. 
  • At 1:10 p.m., police took a report at headquarters of a past disturbance. The resident said that while his crew was doing work in the area of High Rock Street and Robinwood Ave., a resident threw a plant at one of the workers. He also reported that the worker was not interested in being identified or pursuing charges but they wanted a police report of the incident. 
  • At 6:43 p.m., a car entered Rosemary Street going the wrong way. The operator was cited for crosswalk violation and traveling the wrong direction on a one way street.
