Police Respond to Calls for Fraud, Stolen Bike and Beer, Drunk Driving

The following are excerpts from the Needham police log. An arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, June 16

  • At 2:35 p.m., police responded to Great Plain Ave. for a moving violation. The driver, Marcos Sampaio of Framingham, was arrested and charged with operating after revocation and gridlock.
  • At 2 p.m., police responded to Washburn Ave. for a report of suspicious phone calls. 
  • At 9:44 p.m., police responded to Oak Street for a report of table laying in the roadway.
  • At 10:40 p.m., police spotted a Toyota Highlander operating with a flat tire. After trying to stop the SUV, the car continued for about a mile before pulling into a driveway. Sean McQuilliams, 43, 314 Webster St., Needham, was arrested for failing to stop, operating under the influence, and defective equipment 
Tuesday, June 17 
  • At 8:30 a.m., police responded to Highland Ave. for a breaking and entering to Computer Center 
  • A resident of Great Plain Ave. rerouted that his bicycle had been stolen from the rear of Dunkin Donuts. It's a black Trek mountain bike. 
  • At 2:44 p.m., police responded to the area of High Rock and Chestnut to meet with people who stated that their son had lost his cell phone in the auditorium of the Pollard Middle School. It was located at a Yurick Road address after using the "find my iPhone" app. The resident said he found the phone and forgot to return it. 
  • At 2:56 p.m., place responded to a residence on Dedham Ave. for a report of past fraud. The person said they canceled the card and put an alert out. 
  • At 8:01 p.m., responded to a car crash with injuries at Great Plain Ave. and Standish Road. One was injured and transported to the hospital. 
  • Police took a walk-in report of fraudulent activity on a debit card. 
  • Police stopped a car on Alfreton Road. The officer discovered a beer in the car. None of the people in the car were 21 or older. One 17--year-old will be summonsed to court for minor transporting alcohol. 
Wednesday, June 18 
  • At 5:17 p.m., officers responded to Needham Center Fine Wines, where two teens had reportedly stolen beer. They were identified and the matter is under investigation 
Thursday, June 19
  • Police responded to a Central Ave. residence for suspicious phone calls. The residents said that they received a call from someone claiming to be their grandson and that he needed money because he was arrested in California. 
  • At 8:21 p.m., police responded to a report of a woman who appeared to be confused and disoriented behind a Chapel Street business. She was intoxicated and released into the care of her son. 
Friday, June 20
  • At noon, police responded to Standish Road for a harassing phone call report. A man said he was getting calls from the IRS stating that he would be arrested if he didn't provide his personal identity information. 
  • At noon, police responded to Cutler Park parking lot for a report of a dog bite. The bite victim said he was bitten by a dog that was off leash on the main hiking trail. The dog will be quarantined for ten days. 
  • At 4:30 p.m., a Berkshire Road resident reported that someone attempted to open a Capital One credit card using her info. 
  • At 5:06 p.m., police responded to a home on Stonecrest Drive for a report of past suspicious motor vehicle.
