Police Respond to 2 Road Rage Incidents; Arrest for Cocaine Possession

The following are excerpts from the Needham police log. An arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.


Friday, June 13 

  • At 1:47 a.m., police responded to Washington Ave. for a report of a taxi cab occupant asleep in the rear of the car. It was determined the person was drum and he was placed in the custody of his father. 
  • At 2:10 a.m., police responded to Dana Place for a report of a possible B&E in progress. It turned out to be a misunderstanding between one person and another, who had told her to go to the wrong address. 
  • At 9:07 a.m., a woman reported suspicious phone calls. She said that someone called her house to tell her she won the lottery.
  • At 11:30 a.m., police responded to the parking garage in the area of 2nd Ave. and 4th Ave. for a hit and run crash. The person reported a long scratch and dent in his car.  
  • At 2:10 p.m., police responded to the area of Central Ave. by Forest regarding a past road rage incident. One vehicle had been following another from Wellesley into Needham. One driver claimed the other was making obscene gestures at him. The other driver claimed the second operator got out of his vehicle and confronted her at the intersection of Central Ave. and Great Plain Ave. All parties were spoken to and reports were filed. No charges filed. 
  • At 2:15 p.m., police arrested Gareth Henry, 20, 126 Prince St., Needham, for A&B domestic 
  • At 3:50 p.m., police responded to a B Street business, where a man wouldn't leave when told to by staff. The 27-year-old man from Somerville was escorted off the property by police. 
  • At 7:50 p.m., someone from a Murphy Road address reported her basement window was broken. Turns out, a heavy blue lacrosse ball lay on the ground next to the window. Nothing was missing, except for the glass in the window. 
Saturday, June 14 

  • At 5:47 p.m., a driver was stopped on Franklin Street for an expired registration. The owner also had two warrants out for motor vehicle infractions. The operator, Scott McNeff of Waltham, was also arrested for operating with a suspended license, possession of a class B substance (cocaine). 
  • At 6 p.m., police arrested Scott J. McNeff, 27, 77 Hammond St., Waltham, and charged him with operating without a license, suspended license, possession of a Class B substance, warrants 

Sunday, June 15 

  • At 7:40 p.m., police responded to a larceny claim on Linden Street. 
  • At 7:48 p.m., police ersonded to Hillside Ave. and Hunnewell St. for a road rage incident. One driver said that the other had passed him and then pulled over. Both then exchanged words. Both were advised to call 911 and not to confront other motorists. 
  • At 8:42 p.m., police responded to 379 Hunnewell St. for a report of an unruly party. A 60-year-old Needham man was taken into protective custody and later transported to the hospital.
