A Watertown man was arrested for breaking into a Needham home on Saturday, Sept. 1 after he was picked up by police in the area shortly afterward.
A Dunster Road resident reported the break-in at 2:12 p.m. Police responded to the scene and located a person who matched the description of the burglar in the area. The individual was detained and questioned.
Following an investigation, the suspect, Paul Rudolph, 33, of Watertown, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering in the daytime.

Out-of-State Resident Files Fraud Complaint
An out-of-state resident filed a fraud report against a Needham resident on Friday, Aug. 31 at 8 a.m. No further information was mentioned in the police report.
Campaign Signs Posted on Town Property
Police responded to Highland Avenue and Gould Street on Sunday, Aug. 26 at 12:10 p.m. for the report of political signs that had been posted on town property. Officers attempted to contact the candidate’s campaign office. The signs were removed.
Neighbor Concerned About Animals’ Welfare
The Animal Control Officer was called to Rivard Road on Aug. 17 to check into concerns one neighbor had about how another neighbor was taking care of their pets. The officer determined that care was adequate and that nothing improper or illegal was occurring. All parties were notified of the finding.
Sick Raccoon Found on Rosemary Street
Police were called to the area of Rosemary Street and Hillside Avenue for the report of a sick raccoon on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 9:53 a.m. The responding officer located the animal and removed it from the area, later dispatching the animal in a safe location with a department-issued shotgun.
Loose Dogs on Brookline Avenue
Police were called to a Brookline Avenue residence for the report of loose dogs on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 5 p.m. The responding officer was able to get the dogs back to the residence.
Laptop Left in Hotel Room
A couple from Virginia called police on Sunday, Sept. 2 to report that they left their laptop computer in their room at the Sheraton Hotel in Needham and forgot to pick it up when they checked out. Hotel employees were unable to locate the computer. The matter is being investigated.
Driver with Suspended License Runs Red Light
A 28-year-old Boston man was cited for running a red light at Highland and Second avenues on Monday, Aug. 27 at 12:50 p.m. The man also had a suspended driver’s license.
Contractor Hits Gas Line on Stevens Road
A private contractor digging in the public roadway accidentally struck a gas line on Stevens Road on Monday, Aug. 27 at 8:51 a.m. The Needham Fire Department responded to the scene along with NSTAR representatives. NSTAR shut down the main so workers could repair the line. The roadway remained closed throughout the work.
Witness Reports Man with Rifle Hiding in Bushes
Police were called to Stewart Road on Monday, Aug. 27 at 10:10 p.m. for the report of a man with a rifle hiding in the bushes and staring at the reporting party. Officers arrived and checked the area and found the man in the backyard of a Stewart Road address. Two pellet guns were also found in the yard. The man, a 42-year-old Needham resident, was arrested for disorderly conduct.
