Police Reports: Teen Brought BB Gun on Field Trip

A 15-year-old Monsignor James J. Haddad Middle School student was charged with possession of a dangerous weapon on Monday, March 1 after he brought an Airsoft gun on a school field trip.

After an investigation, it was determined that the gun only fires plastic BBs. However, the student was summonsed to court for possession of a dangerous weapon on school property.

School officials will also be taking action according to school policies and procedures.

Illegal U-Turn Leads to OUI Arrest
A Manchester, NH resident was arrested for OUI after he was caught making an illegal u-turn in Needham on Monday, March 5.

An officer on patrol around 2:05 a.m. observed the vehicle make a u-turn on Highland Avenue near Second Avenue and pulled the driver over. While talking to the individual, the officer noted a “strong odor of alcohol,” according to reports. The driver, a 47-year-old male from Manchester, NH, was arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol and also cited for the u-turn violation. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Credit Card Fraud
A Central Avenue resident contacted police on Tuesday, Feb. 28 to report that someone had fraudulently opened a credit card in her name. The woman said she had already notified the company of the fraud.

Unregistered Vehicles Reported on St. Mary’s St.
Police responded to a St. Mary’s Street residence on Wednesday, Feb. 29 around 8:37 a.m. for the report of unregistered cars on the property. Police checked the area and noted that all the cars appeared to be properly registered.

Kindle Goes Missing From Pollard
The parent of a student reported on Wednesday, Feb. 29 that her daughter’s Kindle might have been stolen from school. The parent had already notified the school, according to reports.

Minivan Damaged in Hit-and-Run
Police responded to the report of a hit-and-run crash on Thursday, March 1 at 12:20 p.m. near the on Highland Avenue. The driver’s side door of a mini-van sustained extensive damage. A witness reported seeing a possible suspect. The incident is under investigation.

Driver Crashes Into Wall, Leaves Scene
A Framingham man was charged with leaving the scene of property damage after he allegedly crashed his vehicle into a wall in Needham on Thursday, March 1.

The incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. in the area of Central Avenue and Grove Street, near . When police arrived at the scene, the driver had already left without making his identity known, but a witness was able to write down the vehicle’s license plate number. 

The driver, a 41-year-old Framingham resident, was summonsed to court on the charge.

Stop Sign Knocked Over
A stop sign at Broad Meadow and Grosvenor roads was knocked over on Thursday, March 1 after inclement weather caused a vehicle to slide into the sign. The vehicle sustained minor damages. The Needham Department of Public Works was notified about the sign. The driver was not cited because of the weather-related conditions, according to reports.

Driver Injured in Crash
A driver was injured in a single-vehicle crash in the area of Central Avenue and North Hill Road on Friday, March 2. The crash occurred around 9:26 a.m. The individual was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

The driver was cited for a marked lanes violation. The vehicle was towed.
