Police Reports: Steamroller Rolls Off Trailer

The following information was supplied by the Needham Police Department. Any charges mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

Police were called to Brookside Road on Wednesday, July 18 after a steamroller rolled off a trailer and fell upside down on the side of the road.

The incident occurred at around 7:45 a.m. A man injured his ankle during the accident and received treatment from paramedics. He refused transportation to the hospital.

Photographs were taken of the incident, and OSHA was notified, according to reports.

A Mason Road resident reported on Wednesday, July 18 that a friend had used her debit card without permission. The suspect had used the card three times, with purchases totaling $150.94.

Sick Raccoon Found on Kendrick Street
Police responded to the report of a sick animal at a Kendrick Street residence on Tuesday, July 17 at around 6:50 a.m. Officers found a sick raccoon in the resident’s backyard and “dispatched the animal,” according to reports. Needham Animal Control tested the animal for rabies. Results were not noted in the police report.

Driver Injured in Four-Car Crash
One person was injured in a four-vehicle crash that occurred on Central Avenue near Dwight Road on Tuesday, July 17. The incident occurred at around 7:50 a.m., and one of the drivers suffered very minor injuries. A 24-year-old New Hampshire woman was cited for following too close.

Intoxicated Man Causes Disturbance
Police were called to a Peacedale Road residence for the report of a disturbance on Wednesday, July 18 at around 2 p.m. Officers found that an unwelcome male at the residence was highly intoxicated and placed the man into protective custody.

Driver Injured in Rollover Crash
One person was injured in a rollover crash on Wednesday, July 18 on Chestnut Street near the Dover town line.

The incident occurred at around 5:16 p.m. The driver told police that her vehicle had begun accelerating although she was hitting the brakes and that she then lost control of the vehicle.

The driver was traveling in the northbound lane into oncoming traffic when she hit a utility pole, causing wires to fall onto the road. The vehicle then flipped upside down onto its roof and slid into another vehicle that was traveling in the northbound lane. One of the drivers was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
