Police Reports: OUI, Jogging for Two and a Missed Exit Sign

The following reports were provided by the Needham Police Department from Nov. 9 - 11. Charges where mentioned do not indicate a conviction. 

Not Jogging for Two

A jogger running around Hemlock Gorge on Nov. 9, Friday at about 6:30 a.m., reported that she had been chased by an unknown man. Police were unable to locate anyone in the area. 

Operating under the Influence 

At about 3:15 p.m. on Friday, Police responded to a crash on Central Avenue, near the Newman School. A black Audi reportedly heading toward Dover had crashed, and the responding officer saw four cars on and off the road. Officers spoke to the Audi driver and report that he smelled of alcohol, and was lethargic and non-responsive. The driver, a 51-year-old man from Medfield, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a vehicle, marked lanes, and open container of alcohol. Occupants of the three other cars appeared minor, but two of them were taken to Beth Israel Deaconness Needham.

Headlight Hit-and-Run

A driver near the the CVS on Great Plain Avenue, at about 5 p.m., told police that the front headlight of their car had been damaged some time during the course of the day while parked in several parking lots. 

Missed Exit (Sign)

Before 6 p.m. on Friday, a driver near home on Highland Avenue went off the roadway and hit the exit sign for I95. Police cited the driver with a marked lanes violation.

Locker Heist

Howland Avenue resident reported a wallet and iPhone were taken from his locker while attending a Saturday morning class at the Great Plain Ave YMCA location, around 10:30 a.m.

At about 12:15 p.m., a Fuller Road resident reported that a $200-$300 phone was taken from his back, which was in a locker at the YMCA location on Great Plain Ave.

Cross-Country Ticket Scalping

A Robinwood Avenue resident told police that he had bought Patriots tickets from a seller, and had wired money to the UK using Western Union. When there were no tickets forthcoming, he told police that he realized he was scammed. He reported the fraud incident at about about 3:30 p.m.

Mirror Missing Off the Wall

The mirror and post used to help a Great Plain Avenue resident back out of their driveway was reportedly stolen at about 11 a.m. on Nov. 11. 

Mail Thrower

Police recommended that Central Avenue residents inform their credit agencies of potential fraud, following an incident where the home owners found the mail from their mailbox opened and strewn around the roadway, Sunday, at about 11:15 a.m.
