Police Reports: Man Sleeping on Tracks Arrested on Outstanding Warrants

A Weymouth man was arrested on several outstanding warrants after he was found sleeping on railroad tracks near Gould Street on Saturday, June 9.
Police responded to the report of a man asleep on the tracks at around 8:20 a.m. When confronted, the man originally gave a false name but appeared to be intoxicated and was taken into protective custody by .
He was later identified as being a 41-year-old Weymouth resident who had several outstanding warrants including assault and battery of a disabled person and larceny over $250, out of Brockton District Court, and bylaw violation, intimidation of a witness, threat to commit a crime, destruction of property over $250 and disturbing the peace, out of Quincy District Court.

Garbage Truck on Fire on Crescent Road
Needham Police and responded to a garbage truck fire on Crescent Road on Friday, June 8 at around 5:09 a.m. When police arrived, they observed that the truck engine area appeared to be on fire. An officer extinguished the fire with his cruiser fire extinguisher. The Fire Department arrived and further treated the truck, which was later towed from the scene.

Hit and Run on First Avenue
A hit and run accident was reported in a parking lot on First Avenue on Friday, June 8 at around 3 p.m. Police have no witnesses or suspects at this time.

Check Fraud on Hillcrest Road
An elderly Hillcrest Road resident was the victim of apparent bank fraud. The woman’s son told police that he had discovered that someone had cashed in points on a bank account into three $500 checks. These checks were routed wirelessly to a different North Carolina bank. After contacting her bank, the woman was able to have the points replenished, and her account was closed.
