Two U.S. flags were reported stolen from an Arch Street residence on Independence Day, Wednesday, July 4.
The homeowner told police that the flags had been taken sometime between the prior evening and the time of the report, at around 4:30 p.m. Along with a large flag displayed in the front of the home, a smaller flag on the front lawn had been stolen, with the flag handle broken off, according to reports.
The man’s son said he had heard a banging noise the night before at around 11:30 p.m.
Police checked the area and found that no other residences had missing flags.

Gazebo Lights Broken at DeFazio Field
Vandalism was reported at at around 10:39 a.m. on Friday, July 2. All the lights in the ceiling of the gazebo were broken. The estimated cost to repair the 12 broken lights is $100, plus about $100 in labor.
Roofing Company Employees Accused of Fraud
The owner of a local roofing company called police on Monday, July 2 to report fraud by two of his employees. According to reports, the individuals had “conspired to perform jobs not authorized by the company.” The matter is being investigated.
Camera, Cash Stolen from Hunnewell St. Home
A Hunnewell Street resident reported on Tuesday, July 3 that someone had stolen a camera, camera bag and other items from the home. Among the items taken was $30 cash that was on a bulletin board.
Suspicious People at Washington Avenue Residence
A Washington Avenue resident called police on Tuesday, July 3 at around 7:40 p.m. after she observed unknown individuals enter a neighbor’s home. The witness told police that the strangers were not family members and were not authorized to be in the home. Police checked the residence and surrounding area but did not locate the individuals, according to reports.
‘Highly Intoxicated’ Man on Warren Street
After receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls, police went to a Warren Street residence on Tuesday, July 3 at around 9:20 p.m. for the report of a “highly intoxicated” male. When officers arrived, they observed the man to have “bloodshot eyes and slurred speech,” according to reports. He allegedly admitted to having consumed “a lot of beer.”
The man was taken into protective custody and transported to the police station for processing.
