Needham Police Log: Nov 17 - 20

The following reports were provided by the Needham Police Department from Nov. 17 - 20. Charges where mentioned do not indicate a conviction. 

Saturday, Nov. 17 

• 12:30 p.m., Yurick Road residence reports two generators stolen from the home. Police investigating the matter.
• 7:39 p.m., Old Greendale Avenue reports an intoxicated party. 19-year-old Needham resident placed into protective custody.

Sunday, Nov. 18

• 4 p.m., Needham Police arrest Sharon Frawley and charge her with assault-and-battery on Webster Street.

Monday, Nov. 19

• 1:45 a.m., a plastic bag full of bed linens and a green suitcase were reported taken out of an car parked at a Central Avenue residence. The car had been unlocked, and police think the items were taken between 6 p.m. and 11:40 p.m. on Sunday.
• 10:30 a.m., Clarke Road residen reports a phone call from someone claiming to be from the Medicare administration, and trying to get personal information from her. Police believe the call was fraudulent, and are notifying the social security administration.
• 3 p.m., police received a report of a rented vehicle from a Highland Avenue dealership which was not returned. Police will charge the renter with concealing rented property and have listed the vehicle as stolen.

Tuesday, Nov. 20 

• 11:30 a.m., police received a report of a hit-and-run crash on Marked Tree Road Monday. A witness walked into the station to report the incident, and gave them details. An 81-year-old man from Needham will be summonsed for that, and another hit-and-run crash earlier in the morning, at a Highland Avenue parking lot.
• 4:45 p.m., Congregational Church on Highland Avenue reported that, over the weekend, someone had entered the building, vomited on the stairwell, blown out the pilot lights for the gas stove, and left candy wrappers in the hallways. In recent weeks, there has been some similar activity. 
• 7:30 p.m., a vehicle crashed into a telephone pole on Oak Street, and the right-front wheel came off. The driver, Jonathan Atkins, 26, was arrested and charged at his Oak Street home with driving under the infleunce of drugs, a lane violation, reckless driving and leaving the scene of a property damage crash.
