Needham Police Log: Dis-invitations, Driving Down a License, and More!

Friday, July 26

  • Police responded to a church on Highland Avenue where there was a report of an issue with a contractor around 8 a.m. The issue was resolved, and the contractor was sent a letter of disinvite. 
  • 10:45 a.m., police responded to a business on the 650 block of Highland Avenue, where a recently-terminated employee was reportedly sending harassing texts. The owner said he was nervous about possible vandalism. Police advised him to write a letter of disinvite and apply for a harassment order. 
  • Police pulled traveling on Highland Ave at about 5:45 p.m. saw a pick-up truck with two broken tail lights. Police pulled the driver over and learned that he had a suspended license. The driver, Jeffrey Ahlvin of Woonsocket, RI, 33, was arrested and charged with driving on a revoked license and for defective equipment.
  • On Hunnewell Street, at about 9:15 p.m., police received a report of a hit-and-run crash. Police saw the vehicle had sustained heavy damage to the driver's side rear of the car. Police believe the suspect vehicle is a white truck with damage to the passenger's side front. The owner of the damaged vehicle was told to contact his insurance company. 
Saturday, July 27 
  • Early Saturday morning, around 1:30 a.m., an officer saw a man trying to open the doors of a Highland Avenue Dunkin Donuts. He was taken intoxicated, and police took the 40-year-old Needham man into protective custody. He was taken to his sister's house and released into her custody. 
  • Road rage reported at the CVS on Highland Avenue, at about 1:30 p.m. Police investigated both drivers, and learned that one of them was driving with a suspended license. That driver, a 63-year-old Humarock man will be summonsed to Dedham District Court for driving after a suspension. 
Sunday, July 28
  • Police received a report of a property damage crash at Chestnut Street ant High Rock Street, about 11:45 a.m. Police learned that one driver had no license, and they were cited for driving without a license and failing to use care when stopping.
